Super coach Cowen wins battle with coronavirus

In any other year, super coach Pete Cowen would have been guiding his troops at the Augusta National Golf Club. But this is not a normal year and Cowen is lucky to be coming out the other side of a serious battle with coronavirus.

Cowen coaches or has coached the likes of former World No.1 and 4-time major winner Brooks Koepka, Henrik Stenson, Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, Lee Westwood with his players combining to win more than 200 titles under his watchful eye.

However, nothing had prepared the 69-year-old for what lay ahead following a flight home to England after the cancellation of the Players Championship in mid-March.

Cowen endured a myriad of COVID-19 symptoms including a persistent cough, high fever, shortness of breath, tiredness and more.

Thankfully he has pulled through and is on his way back to some sort of normality.

“As many of you will be aware, in recent weeks…Peter Cowen has been extremely ill battling against the COVID-19 coronavirus,” said Peter Cowen Golf Academy Manager, Nick Huby in an Instagram post.

“I am delighted to announce that Pete is most definitely recovering and improving day by day slowly building his strength back up.”

“I am confident Pete will be able to get right back to the business of improving people’s golf very soon.”
