Woods inks deal to design Popstroke’s putting greens

Tiger Woods says some of his happiest memories in life were having putting competitions with his late father Earl Woods when he was a youngster.

And while that may not be the sole reason, it is certainly part of why Woods is now entering the golf-entertainment business with a new business venture, Popstroke, that will compete with the likes of Topgolf, Drive Shack and other venues that are attempting to bring together aspects of traditional golf alongside cutting-edge technology.

“This is a natural extension of my golf course design philosophy and my TGR Design business,” explained Woods.

“Our goal has always been to design courses that bring people together and are fun for golfers of all abilities and ages.”

PopStroke, which made its debut just last year, is taking the decades-old idea of putt-putt and shifting it to a new level by melding together technology with professionally-designed putting greens along with food and drinks.

PopStroke currently has one facility in Port St. Lucie, Florida but has locations planned for Scottsdale, Arizona and Fort Myers, Florida, and several additional sites under development for 2020 and beyond.

TGR Design and Tiger Woods will be responsible for designing the putting courses at all future PopStroke locations.

“I’m looking forward to others enjoying time with their kids at PopStroke. This is a new way for individuals to experience the game of golf. It’s about bringing people together,” says Woods.
