Callaway Golf signs Lydia Ko, Yani Tseng

Callaway Golf has confirmed an endorsement deal with 16-year-old golf sensation Lydia Ko. The New Zealander is the former World No. 1 Amateur and youngest winner ever on the LPGA Tour.

She will play a full complement of Callaway and Odyssey products. Ko recently won her first tournament as a professional using the Company’s new X2 Hot Pro Driver.

“Lydia is an exceptional talent and a great addition to our staff,” said Nick Raffaele, VP, Sports Marketing, Callaway Golf. “Last year we had several Pros win after successfully transitioning into our products and we’re excited to see what Lydia can accomplish on the LPGA with the world’s best clubs, balls and putter in the bag.”

Ko’s on-course ability is undeniable, and off-course she connects candidly and directly with fans through digital channels and social media. This combination of high performance and authentic engagement is a key part of the endorsement partnership.

“Lydia is digitally connected with golf enthusiasts across the world,” said Harry Arnett, SVP, Marketing, Callaway Golf. “Her meaningful participation in the fast, interconnected network of golf makes her an exciting fit for our strategic objectives.”

In fact, Ko recently stopped by Callaway Golf HQ to participate in the Company’s popular talk show Callaway Talks.

Callaway has also bolstered its LPGA Tour staff with the announcement that five-time major championship winner Yani Tseng has joined the Callaway Tour Staff.

Yani Tseng became the fastest player in LPGA history to cross the $8 million mark in career earnings back in 2012. In 2011, she became the youngest player to win consecutive Rolex Player of the Year awards. She won five women’s majors in three-year span when she was undoubtedly the best female golfer on the planet. She’ll look to regain that form with new Callaway equipment in her bag in 2014.

The signing of Ko and Tseng comes on the heels of Callaway signing European stars Henrik Stenson and Matteo Mannaserro, Americans Harris English Jonathan Byrd, Pat Perez and John Rollins, as well as Thai star Kiradech Aphibarnrat.
