Thomas becomes face of all-new PGA Tour 2K21 game

Firstly it was Tiger Woods, then Rory McIlroy and now World No. 4 Justin Thomas has become the latest face of the PGA Tour gaming franchise.

The 12-time PGA Tour winner will grace the cover of the upcoming PGA Tour 2K21 due to drop worldwide for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch and Stadia on Friday, August 21, 2020.

“Being chosen to be the first-ever cover athlete for the premiere PGA TOUR 2K game is a tremendous honour,” said Thomas. “I’m excited to join the 2K family and challenge players everywhere on the digital links.”

The all-new PGA Tour 2K21 will include 15 licensed PGA Tour courses, each of which was scanned using cutting-edge technology to bring the fairways, greens, bunkers, trees, lakes and ponds to life. Players can also pimp their own greens and fairways with thousands of custom options in the Course Designer.

Eleven PGA Tour players will join Thomas in the game’s PGA Tour Career Mode with gamers being able to personalise their players with gear from the likes of Callaway Golf, Polo Ralph Lauren, adidas, Bridgestone Golf, TaylorMade Golf and more.

“The big thing I’ve noticed is the difference about how realistic it is,” said Thomas, who grew up playing the games himself.

“It’s unbelievable. If I’m playing TPC Sawgrass, at 17, the people that are in the crowd are real spectators. You are creating your own player and trying to make it to the top like we do. The point of the video is to be as realistic as possible.”

“It’s been in the works for a bit, over a year process. It’s been exciting. I liked playing video games growing up. When it was a snow day or when I couldn’t play golf myself, I would like to play. And I was competitive, didn’t want to lose, even in a video game. “

Australia’s very own Luke Elvy will join ex-PGA Tour player Rich Beem in the commentary box.
