Woods seriously injured in single car crash
Just days after speaking about wish to be fit in time for this year’s Masters, Tiger Woods has been seriously injured in a single-car accident in L.A this morning with rescue crews needing to use the ‘jaws of life’ to free the 15-time Major winner from his vehicle.
Woods is reported to have had his legs badly injured when his Genesis Invitational GV80 courtesy vehicle rolled down a slope, crushing the entire front end of the car.

It is understood Woods was on his way to the Rolling Hills Country Club for a second day of filming with GolfTV when the accident occurred.
His long-time manager, Mark Steinberg says he sustained multiple leg injuries and is currently in surgery.
Woods’ injuries are believed to include a compound fracture and shattered ankle in one leg. He is undergoing surgery to put the pieces of his ankle back together.
Fellow Tour player and good friend, Justin Thomas said he ‘was sick to the stomach’ in learning the news and speaking ahead of this week’s Workday WGC at The Concession at Bradenton in Florida.
Thomas added: “It hurts to see one of my closest friends get in an accident. I just hope he’s all right. Just worried for his kids. I’m sure they’ll struggle”.
Thomas was asked if he would consider withdrawing from this week’s event but given the story was then only ‘breaking’ the current World No. 3 said it was far too early to consider such a decision and expressed his concern more for Woods’ current condition.
Local police reported: “On February 23, 2021, at approximately 7:12 AM, LASD responded to a single vehicle roll-over traffic collision on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes.”
“The vehicle was traveling northbound on Hawthorne Boulevard, at Blackhorse Road, when it crashed. The vehicle sustained major damage.”
“The driver and sole occupant was identified as PGA golfer, Eldrick ‘Tiger’ Woods,” officials confirmed.
“Mr. Woods was extricated from the wreck with the ‘jaws of life’ by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics, then transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries.”
It was unclear at this early stage what caused the accident. Local police are investigating and it’s been confirmed alcohol was not a contributing factor.
“We have been made aware of Tiger Woods’s car accident today,” said the PGA Tour.
“We are awaiting further information when he comes out of surgery. On behalf of the PGA Tour and our players, Tiger is in our prayers and will have our full support as he recovers.”
Even old foe Phil Mickelson took to Twitter to express his thoughts and prayers for Woods and his family.
“We are all pulling for you, Tiger. We are so sorry that you and your family are going through this tough time. Everyone hopes and prays for your full and speedy recovery.”
The 45-year-old Woods had been in the Santa Monica area over the weekend acting as host for his annual Genesis Invitational golf tournament at the Riviera Country Club however he was not competing given he is still recovering from a fifth back surgery.
