CEO Pelley announces 2017 European Tour schedule
European Tour CEO, Keith Pelley has unveiled the full 2016/17 European Tour schedule at a luncheon the Tour hosted in London this week.
Standout events include the seven Rolex Series events, which will feature $7 million minimum purses: the BMW PGA Championship (May 25-28), Dubai Duty Free Irish Open (July 6-9), Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open (July 13-16), Italian Open (Oct. 12-15), Turkish Airlines Open (Nov. 2-5), Nedbank Golf Challenge (Nov. 9-12) and DP World Tour Championship (Nov. 16-19).

There are also three events returning to the schedule. The Portugal Open (May 11-14) will be played for the first time since 2010, the Rocco Forte Open (May 18-21) was last contested in 2012 and the Andalucia Valderrama Masters returns after last being played in 2011.
All up, there are six events in the UK, five events in South Africa, four in the USA, three in China, three in Germany, three in the UAE, two in Italy, two also in Portugal and two in Australia.
While 47 tournaments are listed on the schedule, the tour expects to announce additions soon.
“The 2017 season promises to be a very significant one for the European Tour, with the start of the Rolex Series and the inclusion of three returning events in Portugal, Sicily and Spain, plus at least one more tournament to be confirmed shortly,” said Keith Pelley, CEO of the European Tour.
“That will give us 48 tournaments around the world, once again demonstrating the global footprint of the European Tour, while at the same time offering a wide range of playing opportunities for our members.”
