Ferguson, Carter finish on top at First Stage Q-School

West Australian Ben Ferguson and South Australian Jak Carter have finished on top on 4-under as 29 players advanced at the First Stage of Qualifying School for the PGA Tour of Australasia.

There are another 25 players exempt from competing in the First Stage who will meet at this week’s Final Stage, which will again be played at Moonah Links on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.

Seven amateurs are still in contention for a card with Daniel Gill, Frantisek Jan Pavek, Bradley Hallam, Konrad Ciupek, Lachlan Barker, James Mee and Jake Hughes all progressing.

Antonio Murdaca, Blake Proverbs, Darcy Brereton, Tyler Hodge and Benjamin Clementson, to name a few, are also looking to further their status and have progressed to the final stage.

The leading 15 players and ties following the Final Stage Q-School will be eligible to become Full Members of the PGA of Australia for the following season and will be placed in a Tournament Exemption Category.

With talk that the Australian Open will finally return to the schedule and that both the PGA Championship and the Australian Open are to be co-sanctioned with the DP World Tour, there is an added bonus to obtaining playing rights this Australasian PGA Tour season.
