Fowler wins Fiducian Legends PGA Seniors
Peter Fowler has recorded a nine stroke victory in the $110,000 Fiducian Legends PGA Senior Championship after rounds of 70,69 & 68 for a nine under par total.
Holding a five shot lead going into the final round Fowler showed no signs of nerves opening with consecutive birdies on one and two.
The chasers were unable to make any ground on Fowler and when he rolled in a 35 foot eagle putt on 13 the tournament was all but over.
Fowler, who currently leads the European Seniors Order of Merit explained “I played really solid this week, I positioned the ball well this week and just play smoothly. The (Killara) course is a great layout, really tight off the tee and in superb condition”
Fowler also acknowledged the support and influence of his long time coach and mentor Ian Alexander.
“I still spend about a month a year with Ian, he is still a keen golfer and a huge influence on my golf”.
In second position on even par were Michael Clayton and David Hill, who shot rounds of 71 and 72 respectively while John Clifford finished in outright third.
Killara Golf Club Head Professional Greg Hohnen finished a credible tied 27th.
