Fraser, Scrivener secure top-5 placings in Sicily
Aussies Marcus Fraser and Jason Scrivener have secured a top-5 finish on the European Tour at the Rocco Forte Open in Verdura, Sicily.
Spain’s Alvaro Quiros earned a ticket back to the European Tour with the victory defeating South Africa’s Zander Lombard in a sudden-death playoff.

Quiros looked to have had the title in his grasp early on when he opened the final round with four birdies in the first six holes to reach 20-under for a seven-shot lead but coming home he dropped six shots between the eighth and 17th holes and returned a 2-over 73, his worst score of the week.
Quiros won with a par at the second playoff hole, the 18th, after Lombard made bogey.
Scrivener had a genuine chance at equalling the leaders before making a double bogey on the 71st hole but still produced his first top-10 finish for the season.
Fraser and Scrivener were part of a seven strong Australasian challenge with five of those making the cut. Wade Ormsby matched Fraser’s scores the opening two rounds but fell away with a 76 on Saturday and he struggled to recover Sunday, a 2-over 73 seeing him finish T38.
Andrew Dodt finished on the same total while Nick Cullen also battled the tough conditions at the weekend with rounds of 74-75 to finish 1-over for the week and T68.
New Zealand’s Daniel Fox and Western Australia’s Ryan Fox both missed the cut.
