Johnson makes last-minute withdrawal from Texas Open
He’s had one top-10 finish all year on the PGA Tour and with his Masters defence just around the corner, World No.1 Dustin Johnson has decided to pull the plug on this week’s Valero Texas Open.
Johnson took to Twitter following another disappointing showing at the World Golf Championship – Dell Match Play where he failed to make it past the third round.

“After much careful thought over the weekend, I have decided to withdraw from the Valero Texas Open,” tweeted Johnson.
“I now plan to spend the week at home in preparation for next week’s Masters. I sincerely apologise to the sponsors at Valero and all my friends in San Antonio, as I realise this is disappointing news.”
“Nonetheless, I have no doubt it will be another great week for the Valero Texas Open.”
A string of top-10’s earlier this season along with success at Augusta National means the 36-year-old still remains in touch on the FedExCup ladder in 6th place and just 400 points short of Bryson DeChambeau.
