Jones, Kennedy well placed at Bridgestone Open

Australians Brendan Jones and Brad Kennedy have maintained their good form on the Japan Golf Tour with high finishes in the recently completed Bridgestone Open.

Japan’s Satoshi Kodaira completed an astonishing recovery from an opening round of 75 to clinch his fourth Japan Golf Tour victory, and his fourth in as many years, with a 14-under par total of 270.

Kodaira was still a distant 10 shots from the lead after shooting a second round 66 to make the halfway cut, but put himself firmly into contention with a wonderful nine-under 62 on Saturday.

A final round 67 saw him clinch his improbable win by a stroke over the Korean pair of Kyoung-Hoon Lee (13-under) and K.T. Kim (12-under).

Just a few weeks on from his comeback win at the ANA Open, Jones finished tied for 7th place at 9-under while Kennedy was just outside the top-ten in a share of 11th at 7-under.

Matthew Griffin (T33), Scott Strange and Adam Bland (T38) and Kurt Barnes (T57) were the other Australians to completed four rounds at the event.

These results now have Kennedy placed 9th on the Money List for 2016, while Jones is in 16th spot with six tournaments still remaining before the season ends.

K.T. Kim will mount a defence of his Mynavi ABC Open title at the ABC Golf Club in the Hyogo Prefecture this week.
