Jones wins Japan’s Sun Chlorella Classic
Canberra’s Brendan Jones has won his twelfth Japan Tour title with a come-from-behind victory at the Sun Chlorella Classic in Hokkaido, Japan.
The 37-year-old fired a two-under 70 to close the tournament two shots ahead of Seong-Ho Lee, Hideki Matsuyama and Yoshinobu Tsukada at the prestigious Otaru Country Club in Sapproro.
Jones’ second victory at this tournament and also his second of the season takes his 2012 money list total to ¥72,000,000, some ¥12,000,000 ahead of Hiroyuki Fujita.
A pair of eagles and bogeys left New Zealand’s David Smail in a share of 11th while Muswellbrook’s Kurt Barnes closed his round in equal 22nd.
Neven Basic (T40), Paul Sheehan (T40), Brad Kennedy (T46) and Steve Conran (T55) round out the Australasians to have made the weekend.
The Japan Golf Tour moves south to Osaka for the Kansai Open Golf Championship on August 16th.
