Lee misses as Arnold, Coletta secure Web.com cards

Jamie Arnold and Brett Coletta have played their way onto the Web.Com Tour following Q-school final in Chandler, Arizona.

Arnold, 35, who has already played two full seasons on the Web.Com Tour, signed for a second consecutive 70 after his stunning second-round 61 to finish eight shots behind medallist, American Danny Walker.

Coletta, 22, also played some impressive golf to finish in a share of 25th position along with Arnold, firing a closing round 63 to jump 49 places to snatch a conditional status. Earlier, Coletta had recorded rounds of 72-66-68. The Aussie pair earning exempt status for the first eight events of next season with their result.

Coletta certainly earned his way onto the Web.Com Tour the hard way with two top-five finishes on Canada’s Mackenzie Tour seeing him finishing 22nd on that money list, with the top 25 earning exemption through to Second Stage where he was able to progress.

Western Australia’s Min Woo Lee finished in a share of 67th position with rounds of 72-67-66-68 and narrowly missed securing any starts at this stage on the Web.Com Tour.

Lee was one of only three amateurs in the field having come through both the First and Second Stage of Q Schools.

In a format where players have to shoot birdies and go low to have any chance, the Final Stage sees the medallist receives fully exempt status on the 2019 Web.com Tour. A massive 18-under 270 ended up being the cutoff with 49 players earning guaranteed starts in 2019.

Finishers between 2nd-10th (and ties) are guaranteed entry into the first 12 events of the 2019 Web.com Tour Regular Season, with finishers 11th-40th (and ties) guaranteed entry into the first eight events of the 2019 Web.com Tour Regular Season.

The remainder of the field receives conditional status on the 2019 Web.com Tour.

Other notables that earned guaranteed starts include last year’s medallist Lee McCoy (T34) and Scottie Scheffler (T34), the low amateur at the 2017 US Open. Walker collected US$50,000 for his victory.

The first 2019 event gets underway on 13th January at The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic at Sandals Emerald Bay Sandals Emerald Bay GC, Great Exuma.
