The 34-year-old has overcome two battles with acute myeloid leukaemia in his lifetime and after failing to secure enough prizemoney on the US PGA Tour this year, Lyle has decided to focus on local events to be closer to his young family.

Zunic is in fine form having just won the recent inaugural Northern Territory PGA Championship.

Turning Professional just last year, it was the second victory on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia for the 24-year-old from Wollongong after securing the New Zealand Open last year.

The amateurs will be led by Min Woo Lee, who is in peak form having just been crowned the first Australian winner of the US Junior Boys Championship.

The 17-year-old from Perth has been playing well this year adding the Srixon Junior Champion, Nedlands Junior Masters Champion and Runner- Up Junior Invitational at Sage Valley to his resume.

The Queensland Open returns to the Brisbane Golf Club for the first time since a talented young amateur named Stuart Appleby won there in 1991, beating a strong field and heading on to forge a stellar career in the US.

The inaugural Queensland Open was played at the Brisbane Golf Club in 1924 with both amateurs and professionals allowed in the field with 72 holes of strokeplay played over just two days.

The first winner was an amateur, Sydneysider Harry Sinclair, who won it again several years later, in 1931 but by then he had turned professional.
