Of those progressing to the Second Stage, Sinnott was the best performed after shooting 12-under par to finish tied 7th of the 25 who progressed in Murrieta, California.

Davis was part of the Australian team that dominated the recent World Amateur Team Championship in Mexico and joined a list of players that includes Jack Nicklaus, Bruce Devlin, Hal Sutton and 2016 Ryder Cup star Ryan Moore who also captured the individual title in the event.

He and Quayle now head to Korea for the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship at last year’s Presidents Cup venue, the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Incheon.

An additional series of 72-hole First Stage events are scheduled over the coming week with a handful of Australians entered.

Second Stage events are scheduled for early November with the Finals being conducted in Florida in mid-December.
