Nisbet goes low to lead Q-School

Daniel Nisbet’s aspirations of playing on a US tour has gained momentum with the 21-year-old currently leading the First Stage of the PGA Tour Q-School at Lantana Golf Club in Texas.

Nisbet, who turned professional a few weeks back following the World Amateur Teams Championship in Turkey, fired rounds of 69-65 to be three shots in front of American Matt Hughes.

The top-18 and ties progress to Stage Two, which commences November 13, with the Final Stage scheduled for November 28 in LaQuinta, California.

The low 25 and ties from the final stage will earn PGA Tour cards for the 2013 season in what will be the last progression under this format.

Next year, the top 75 on the Web.com money list and the players, who are 126th-200th on the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup points list will compete for 50 PGA Tour cards in a three-tournament series known as the Web.com Tour Finals.
