Oosthuizen dazzles in Durban for Volvo win
For the third successive season, Louis Oosthuizen has won the first European Tour event of the new year.
The 30-year-old South African overhauled Scotland’s Scott Jamieson with a final round of 66 to capture the Volvo Golf Champions title at the Durban Country Club in South Africa.

Oosthuizen’s joint best-of-the-day round of 66 for a 16 under par aggregate winning total was good enough for a one stroke victory against an elite 33-man field, after Jamieson’s eagle chip at the last to tie for a playoff stopped inches away.
It was Oosthuizen’s sixth European Tour title, netting him the €350,000 first prize and a rise to a career-best fourth place in the world rankings.
“It’s a great start to the year. I knew I had to come out and get my name up there on the leaderboard, and I was really chuffed to go from five down at the start of the day to tie for the lead after 12 holes,” said Oosthuizen.
“When I finished everybody was congratulating me, but I saw Scott still had chip to force a play-off.”
“I was pretty relieved when it didn’t drop. He played great all week, but today was my day.”
