Past champions add to exciting field at Vic Open

A dozen past champions have committed to the ground-breaking ISPS Handa Vic Open, which kicks off next month at the 13th Beach Golf Links on the stunning Bellarine Peninsula.

2019 winner, Scotland’s David Law, will head the charge for the men while Celine Boutier, will also return to defend her title alongside another former champ, Minjee Lee.

Boutier looks in solid form after lining up for the first time in 2020 last week at the LPGA Tour’s Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions, where she finished 9th.

Past winners in the men’s tournament that will tee it up up from February 6th include Simon Hawkes (2018), Australian Open runner-up Dimi Papadatos (2017), Richard Green (2015), Matthew Griffin (2014), Jason Norris (2010), Ash Hall (2009) and Gareth Paddison (2004).

On the women’s side, four of the past five champions will be at the 13th Beach Golf Links including Boutier, Minjee Lee (2014 as an amateur, 2018) England’s Mel Reid (2017), and Marianne Skarpnord (2015).

The 28-year-old Law has had a lacklustre start to his season with a T43 at the Mauritius Open his best result so the Scotsman will be keen to make amends with a solid showing when he arrives Down Under.

The $3 million ISPS Handa Vic Open is a unique concept in world golf with the men’s and women’s professional tournaments being played at the same time for the same prizemoney.

The event is co-sanctioned by the ALPG Tour, LPGA Tour, ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australasia and European Tour.
