QLD PGA returns to Toowoomba with purse increase

The Queensland PGA Championship is heading back to Toowoomba this summer.

And the good news for the players is that the purse is also set to increase and this year’s field will be chasing the lion’s share of $150,000 in prizemoney.

With sponsorship from Coca-Cola, Toowoomba City Golf Club will roll out the red carpet for the players from February 21-24, 2019, ensuring a strong field should turn out to chase the title.

According to the general manager of tournament for the PGA of Australasia, Simon Butterly, the Coca-Cola QLD PGA Championship has found an excellent home in Toowoomba at City Golf Club and continues to go from strength-to-strength.

“The increase in prizemoney helps to secure the tournament’s future as an attractive playing opportunity for some of Australia’s brightest up and coming players,” said Butterly

The Coca-Cola QLD PGA Championship has been played at City Golf Club since 2009 and celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2019.

City Golf Club President Ed Britnell said the club and its members were proud to have hosted the tournament over the last decade which has featured a prestigious list of winners.

“We are grateful to have had an amazing group of winners here over the last 10 years including Steven Bowditch, Brad Kennedy and Ryan Fox, not to mention the likes of Cameron Smith, Peter O’Malley and Craig Parry, who have graced our fairways,” said Britnell.
