Scott to be honoured with key to the city
Masters Champion Adam Scott will be presented with the key to the city on Wednesday 6th November at the RACV Royal Pines on the Gold Coast and everyone is invited.
Mayor Tom Tate will hand over the key at a special ceremony on the 18th green following Scott’s round in the Pro-Am event, the precursor to the Australian PGA Championship which begins on Thursday 7 November.
Adam Scott wins the 2013 US Masters
“We’re thrilled to have Adam here to be able to hand over the key to the city and of course we wish him all the very best in the tournament,” he said.
“To win the green jacket is a tremendous achievement and we’re all very proud of him.”
Adam was the first Australian to win the US Masters when he beat Angel Cabrera in a sudden death playoff in Augusta, Georgia, in April this year.
Cr Tate said it was a privilege to be hosting the prestigious Australian PGA Championship as the city counted down toward the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
“An event of this calibre certainly consolidates our global reputation as a sports and events capital,” he said.
