Tiger impresses with 12th place at Honda Classic
You may find this difficult to believe but given the events of last weekend we may well be cheering Tiger Woods to a US Masters win in a few weeks’ time at Augusta National.
Because, let’s face facts…Tiger IS back!
The 14-time major winner played enough good golf and concentration at last weekend’s Honda Classic to suggest he really is ready to roll…maybe to a major success.
And the best part about it is Woods says he pulled up great and felt good about his fitness and his game.
“I just have to head back to the gym now and make sure I can maintain that level of fitness,” he grinned.

Woods officially finished 12th in the Honda behind playoff winner Justin Thomas.
But he “contended” for much of the final day before fading over the closing holes.
Certainly Woods was happy with where he was at:
His swing speed of 205km-h (128 mph) at the Honda meant he was again competitive with the game’s longer hitters.
There were no big misses on a course that demanded the very best of every golfer that week.
Then there was his improved iron play, with better distance control, making him look like he could actually be dangerous again going to Augusta National.
Woods admitted he felt very happy with the way he played the entire week.
“I really controlled my ball flight,” he said. “This wind, you can get exposed pretty easily and I felt like I had control.”
“I left myself, the solid thing about this week is I missed the ball in the correct spots and I had better control of my ball and that enabled me to get up-and-down.”
“I know it’s been a long time, but I remember how to do this.”
“I know how to hit shots and that part, I wasn’t worried about that part. I wasn’t worried about coming down the stretch, how I was going to feel.”
“It was getting to that point. I’ve been away from it for a while and you know, it takes a lot.”
“I mean, you can’t miss around here on this golf course. You have to hit it well and I hit it well all week. I gave myself a chance to win this thing.”
In fact it was suggested all Tiger needed was a ‘hot’ putter to make him a decent chance at the Masters…and a fifth title there.
You can hear the roars!
