Watson’s class shines at Open Pro-am
Golf legend Tom Watson may be suffering the effects of the flu and jet lag but there was no doubting the class of the man and the quality of his play during Wednesday’s pro-am at the Emirates Australian Open at The Lakes today.
Watson mesmerised his pro-am partners, including former Test cricketer Ian Healy, and no more than a few dozen spectators with his controlled play from tee to green in windy afternoon conditions.

The highlight of the round was undoubtedly a magnificent eagle 2 on the tough par four 16th, where a perfectly struck driver was followed by a 3 iron into the wind that never left the flag in flight and toppled into the hole.
The shot brought a broad smile to the face of the 63-year-old, eight time major champion and along with several birdies during the round, would give him confidence of a strong showing in the championship he won at Royal Melbourne in 1984.
