Windred takes medallist honours at European Q-School

Blake Windred took medallist honours winning a Second Qualifying Stage on the European Tour in Spain over the weekend to advance the Novocastrian to Final Stage qualifying and playing rights on the European Tour for 2020.

Windred took out the field firing a 10-under-par total at Desert Springs.

Other Aussies to advance to the Final Stage include Jordan Zunic, who finished 10th at the same venue and former US Amateur Champion Nick Flanagan, who finished in a share of 11th also at Desert Springs.

David Micheluzzi and Ben Eccles have also progressed after finishing in a share of 5th and 19th position respectively at Club de Golf Bonmont in Tarragona.

Deyen Lawson finished in a share of 4th position at Alenda Golf in Alicante, along with Jarryd Felton and Ben Ferguson, who shared 10th position to progress to final stage.

Aussies who failed to progress include Nick Cullen, Harrison Endycott, Daniel Gale, Justin Warren, Blake Collyer and Kyle Michel.

The European Tour Final Stage commences 15th November at Lumine Golf Club, Tarragona, Spain.

Held between September and November each year, only the top 25 players – and ties – at the end of the six-round Final Stage will earn European Tour cards for the following season.
