Experience the beauty of Barwon Heads

Barwon Heads Golf Club on the Bellarine Peninsula offers the ultimate golfing getaway.

Barwon Heads was one of the first country clubs in Australia, offering accommodation to those who wished to visit and enjoy a golfing holiday. This tradition continues strongly today.

Nestled amongst the coastal dunes, the highly ranked Barwon Heads links course offers 18 magnificent holes of golf. Carved into the natural landscape, just metres from the spectacular 13th Beach surf coast, the course promises a golfing challenge to be long remembered and a visual feast never to be forgotten.

“We have groups that have been coming here for several decades, the first visit often turns into an annual one,” said general manager David Clifford.

“Visitors feel very welcome here, with the club providing a wonderful environment for a group golf getaway.”

The impressive clubhouse, recently listed by the National Trust and Heritage Victoria, is famed for its ambience and old world charm. With stunning architecture and captivating views, it is a house designed for all seasons.

House guests can enjoy the open balconies in summer or the luxurious open fires during the cooler months.

Visitors are often particularly impressed by the high quality of food and wine at the club, recognised by Club’s Victoria as having the ‘Best Fining Dining Restaurant’ and ‘Golf Club of the Year’ in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

There is a diverse range of dining experiences, from a fully cooked breakfast, casual lunch and dinners, to the more traditional experience in the formal dining room (where a jacket is required).

Upstairs, there are 19 en suite rooms, and a variety of packages are available incorporating a stay with golf, dining and entertainment.

In between rounds guests can explore the charming seaside town of Barwon Heads, take a stroll around the bluff and enjoy the views made famous in Seachange, or explore the food and wine of the greater Bellarine Peninsula, assisted by the recently launched Bellarine Taste Trail.

The Peninsula and surrounds also offer up several other renowned golf courses, including two courses at 13th Beach just minutes away.

For those who do not wish to venture too far from the clubhouse, the property has four newly resurfaced tennis courts, along with a billiards room. Four onsite professionals are also at hand if improving your game is the goal.

Take some well-earned time off and be enchanted by over a century of golfing history.
