The Coast: Golf with views to die for

With ocean views from every hole, it’s easy to see why The Coast Golf Club is rated by many visitors as Sydney’s most spectacular golf course.

For those who have missed this golf haven, The Coast Golf Club surrounds Little Bay in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and is just a few minutes drive east of Sydney airport and a mere 20 minutes south of the Sydney CBD.

The course is a Par-70 clifftop seaside links layout that plays along the rocky cliffs and features some of the most picturesque, challenging and if the wind is up, daunting, holes in Sydney.

Here golfers enjoy a course which is open to the elements and can play differently from one hour to the next. A mix of tight drives and heartbreaking greens ensures a challenge for players of all levels.

It’s hardly surprising that one golf publication has The Coast Golf Club ranked number 35 of Australia’s best public-access golf courses and the third-highest ranked in Sydney. Certainly it is Sydney’s most spectacular public coastal golf course.

The redevelopment of the neighbouring former Prince Henry Hospital site included a major upgrade to a number of the golf club’s facilities, including several golf hole redesigns.

In 2007 renowned Sydney golf architect Jim Wilcher merged the site’s natural elements of wind and water with the challenge of original links golf, complementing the existing design elements.

Affiliated golfers are welcome in the Friday Open competition and each Sunday by invitation in the members’ medley competition.

Amazingly, this sensational layout is available for public and social play seven days a week with bookings available online through the club’s website.

After a game or as part of your visit, relax in the refurbished, pre-Federation Heritage listed clubhouse. Lounge and dining areas afford stunning views of the ocean, sea cliffs and the beautiful Little Bay cove and sandy beach.

Located within the clubhouse is the locally-renowned a la carte restaurant, open for lunch from Wednesday to Sunday and dinner from Wednesday to Saturday. The accent here is on high-quality dining with an emphasis on seasonal fresh produce, seafood and modern Australian cuisine.

Also there the bistro which is open seven days for lunch and is the ideal option for an informal meal or just a snack after golf.
