Scottie Scheffler has held the World No. 1 ranking for the better part of three years, in the longest stretch atop the OWGR since Tiger Woods. The Texan’s rise is built on the most efficient ball-striking on tour — he has led the PGA Tour in strokes-gained tee-to-green in four straight seasons.
He broke through at the 2022 Masters with a four-shot win, added a second green jacket in 2024 and won the 2025 PGA Championship in front of a hometown Dallas-area crowd. The 2024 Olympic gold medal at Le Golf National turned a dominant stretch into a generational case.
Off the course Scheffler is famously low-key. Married to high-school sweetheart Meredith Scudder since 2020, he became a father for the first time in 2024, with daughter Olivia. He still works with the same coach, Randy Smith, who he met at Royal Oaks in Dallas as a teenager — a continuity rare at the very top of the sport.
