Xander Schauffele turned a slow major-championship apprenticeship into one of the most dominant 18-month runs in recent memory, winning the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla and adding the Open Championship at Royal Troon two months later. The 2024 Olympic gold in Paris had already cemented him as the most clutch player of his generation.
Born in San Diego to a French-German father and a Taiwanese-Japanese mother, Schauffele grew up around the game — his father, Stefan, coached him from juniors onward and remains his swing coach today. He played college golf at San Diego State before turning pro and winning twice in his debut PGA Tour season.
He married Maya Lowe, his college sweetheart, in 2021. The two divide their time between Las Vegas and the family’s home base in San Diego. Schauffele has been notably consistent in the majors — fifteen top-tens in his first thirty starts, the highest hit rate of any active player.
